Why God Allows Hard Seasons in Motherhood

2 Corinthians 12:19

“But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in your weakness”

Motherhood is so beautiful and so treasured.

But… it’s also exhausting.

Some seasons leave you feeling strong and confident. While others leave you running on coffee, cuss words, and prayers.

Maybe this is the season you are in right now. I can fully empathize.

You love your kids.

You’re doing your best.

You’re showing up every single day.

And yet…. you feel empty and flat exhausted. Overwhelmed. Invisible. Stretched too thin.

So quietly, in the middle of dishes, diapers, and all the chaos you wonder:

Why is this so hard, God?

Here’s the truth…

God does not waste hard seasons motherhood.

Growth Happens Under Pressure (even in the messy)

Being a momma applies pressure like nothing else.

Sleepless nights.

Endless needs.

Constant overstimulation.

No “off” button.

And while that pressure feel overwhelming, GOD is using it to grow you.

In patience.

In humility.

In compassion.

In endurance.

You’re becoming someone stronger, wiser, and more grace-filled, even when you don’t feel like.

Just like a seed breaks before it grows, God is shaping you in the unseen. Momma that is YOU!

Not to break you, but to build you.

God Builds Dependence Through Tired Moms

As moms, we’re taught to “just do all the things”

Be strong.

Be organized.

Do EVERYTHING, and without grumble.

But motherhood quickly teaches us that we can’t do this alone.

We need God.

We cannot do this alone.

The days when we feel emotionally empty. Physically exhausted. Mentally overloaded.

God doesn’t look at us and say, “Oh girl, try harder.”

Instead, he says. “Draw nearer to me.”

Your weakness in NOT failure.

It is an invitation for GOD’S STRENGTH

When your tears whisper: ‘Lord, I can’t do this today.’

He scoops you up and says “I’ve got you”

Hard Seasons Deepen a Mother’s Faith

Some seasons of motherhood feel light and joyful.

But, others feel oh so heavy.

Colic nights.

Special needs.

Hard teen years.

Financial stress.

Single parenting.

Depression.

Trying to be 3 places at once.

Doing ALL things alone.

These seasons test your faith.

They stretch your TRUST in God.

They force you to rely on Him, not just believe in Him.

You learn to say:

“I don’t understand this season…but I TRUST You., Lord".”

“I’m tired…but I’m staying faithful.”

“I’m struggling…but I’m still praying.”

That is deep faith. That is TRUST in the Lord.

And God, our Lord, treasures it.

We Learn to Pray Like Desperate Moms

In easy season, prayers are smile.

But in hard seasons of motherhood?

Prayers become lifelines.

“Lord, give me patience.”

“Jesus, help me not to yell.”

“Provide for us.”

"Heal my child, Lord.”

“Carry me today, God”

You stop trying to sound perfect and you just honestly pour your heart in the Lord.

And HE listens to EVERY whisper, EVERY thought, EVERY tear, EVERY word said out loud.

We Learn to Release Control Over Our Children

One of the hardest lessons in motherhood is this:

We can’t control everything.

Not their choices.

Their personalities.

Their struggles.

Their futures.

Instead, we can:

Guide.

Pray.

Love.

Ultimately, they belong to God.

Hard seasons teach us to loosen our grip and say:

“Lord, I TRUST You with this child you have given to me.”

Even when it’s scary.

Even when it hurts.

Momma, God is With You in This Seaon

If motherhood feels heavy right now, hear this:

You are not failing.

You are not weak.

You are not invisible.

GOD SEES YOU

He sees the midnight feedings.

The packed lunches.

The prayers over your sleeping children.

The sacrifices no one recognizes.

And He says:

“My grace is enough for you.”

I promise you, this season will not last forever.

Remember the work God is doing in you during this season…

He is building you… strong in your faith, tender in your heart, and a legacy of love.

That will last.

A Prayer for the Momma who is struggling in a hard season of her life

Lord,

First and foremost, we thank you for all of your blessings. We lift up to you the momma reading this today. May she know that these hard seasons will not last forever. May she know that these hard seasons are building her even when it feels like she is crumbling. Lord, we pray that she put her trust in you. That she feels your grace and your power that grows in the trust she puts in you all the days, but especially when she is at her weakest moments.

We pray all of this in your beautiful and precious name, Lord, Amen.
